Health Services Quality Accelerator in Jordan
Wu Zeng, Myriam Vuckovic, Eva Jarawan, Jessica Kriz
Funder: University Research Co. (URC) with funding from the United States Agency for International Development
URC will implement the five-year USAID Health Services Quality Accelerator Activity in Jordan, which will engage health system stakeholders to accelerate and sustain improvements in equitable reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) outcomes. The activity aims to improve the quality of equitable RMNCH services and strengthen Jordan Ministry of Health (MOH) leadership and governance capacity to lead improvements in quality of care. Researchers at the School of Health, Georgetown University will support the field team to build the local capacity to use locally collected data to develop more evidence-informed policies to improve the quality of care and engage stakeholders to implement policy change.
Hospital Financing in Low and Lower-Middle income Countries
Wu Zeng, Eva Jarawan, Vincent Turbat
Funder: The World Health Organization
This review will concentrate on hospital financing interventions and their implementation related to contextual factors in LLMICs. The hospital financing interventions in this study will encapsulate at least four categories of interventions mentioned in the proposed solution: (1) all types of reforms on hospital payment mechanisms and contracting arrangements, ranging from fees for services to global budget; (2) mechanisms to enhance the equity and reduction of OOP (fee waiver programs); (3) mechanisms to modify the fee structure (e.g. extra change to private wards); and (4) financial interventions targeting specific outcomes additional to existing payment mechanisms (e.g., pay for performance [P4P] or payment for accreditation process).
